About Us

The mission of City First Homes is to expand homeownership and opportunity in Washington, DC.

CFHomes is a nonprofit organization supported in part by the Washington, DC government. Our guiding principle is that broadening access to homeownership leads to strong communities and vibrant cities. CFHomes was founded in 2007 by City First Enterprises, a Washington, DC community development nonprofit.

City First Homes offers shared-appreciation homes located in great Washington, DC neighborhoods close to public transportation, schools, jobs, nightlife, and commercial centers. Our Down Payment Assistance Loan helps to make homeownership substantially more affordable. If homeowners choose to sell, they share part of their price appreciation with the next buyer, to keep the home permanently affordable, while still building significant wealth.

City First Homes has been featured in the Washington Post and on Washington DC’s NPR affiliate 88.5 WAMU.
